A Significant project for Terawatt

The data center project landed on Terawatt’s estimating desk in 2024. The main contractor included individuals who had previously worked with Terawatt in their earlier careers and had been satisfied with the collaboration. After negotiations, the electrical contracting for the data center was awarded to Terawatt, and the project began in the summer of 2024.

Terawatt’s scope of work included building the entire electrical distribution system for the data center, while the commissioning phase remained the client’s responsibility.

Speed and Quality Make the Difference

Speed and Quality Make the Difference

A data center construction site differs from typical commercial building projects due to its substantial power requirements and the extensive scope of electrical work. The contract was carefully prepared, and Terawatt assigned an experienced project manager along with seasoned lead electricians and supervisors to the project team. Many plans required thorough review, and this careful preparation helped ensure a smooth start.

In data center construction, we focused especially on two critical factors:

  1. Quality. All power distribution must function flawlessly, without interruptions. Every connection, cable lug crimp, and cable tie must be installed with absolute precision. The facility is only as strong as its weakest point.
  2. Speed. The faster, the better. These projects are highly intensive, and everything is geared toward getting the data center operational as quickly as possible.

Open collaboration enabled success

The workload of the project increased significantly as it progressed, and at its peak, more than 160 electricians and office personnel were working on site, which brought its own challenges. Maintaining an overall view and reviewing design changes for both the client and our own team played a crucial role in a hectic schedule. Overall, the project was successful: the facility was made operational and handed over on time. Close and open cooperation with the main contractor and the client made this success possible.
