HRK's New Logistics Centre in Rajamäki
Equipment rental company HRK invested in new logistics and commercial facilities in Rajamäki, Nurmijärvi. Tekova Oyj was selected as the main contractor for the project.
Following a competitive tendering process, Terawatt was appointed as the electrical contractor under a design-and-build (D&B) contract. Terawatt was responsible for both the electrical design and the complete electrical contracting works.
Special Focus on Lighting Design
HRK’s new facility was designed to consolidate the company’s logistics operations into a single location, improving both customer service and operational efficiency.
One of the project’s key features was a yard area tailored to HRK’s operational requirements, with particular emphasis placed on lighting design. The outdoor lighting was carefully optimised to achieve the performance targets agreed with the main contractor, while balancing illumination levels, energy efficiency and the number of lighting columns.
The design objective was to minimise the number of lighting columns without compromising lighting performance, keeping the yard as open and unobstructed as possible to support the smooth movement of equipment and day-to-day operations.
The result is a cost-effective, energy-efficient lighting solution that meets the project’s operational requirements while helping to reduce long-term operating costs.
Electrical Systems for the Remaining Facilities
In addition, Terawatt was responsible for the electrical design and contracting of the main building in accordance with the project’s specified performance requirements.
The office areas were designed to provide adequate lighting and a sufficient number of power outlets to support everyday use. In the workshop and maintenance facilities, additional power distribution units were installed to ensure efficient and practical working conditions.
The project also included the design and installation of a comprehensive intruder alarm and CCTV system to enhance the security of the property. In addition, space was reserved within the site for a future solar power installation, supporting potential expansion of the property’s renewable energy capacity.
