Inspired by his father to become an electrician
Janne trained as an electrician, inspired by his first summer job as a young man, when he accompanied his father on jobs installing illuminated signs. He went on to work as an electrician for nearly 20 years, first at smaller companies and then at Terawatt from 2023 onwards.
During his probation review at Terawatt, Janne was offered the opportunity to become a site supervisor. Although the suggestion came somewhat out of the blue, he enthusiastically took on the new challenge. Janne has worked as a site supervisor since the beginning of 2024.
“I’m not very good at saying no, so I was happy to take on the new challenge of becoming a site supervisor. I really appreciate how Terawatt actively offers opportunities for personal development and career progression. I’ve joked with my friends that I ‘ended up’ becoming a site supervisor at Terawatt, even though I’d never imagined myself in that role before.”

Being a site supervisor involves much more than sitting in an office
A site supervisor’s work is varied. While it includes planning and office work, the role also involves spending plenty of time out on site. Key responsibilities include providing support and helping resolve the various situations that arise on site, as well as ensuring that work progresses as planned and stays on schedule.
“I enjoy interacting with different people. People skills are particularly important in this role. In my current position, I’ve had the opportunity to develop my ability to win people over and get them working towards a common goal.”
Similarities to the sports world
In his free time, Janne coaches junior floorball players in two age groups at SB-97, a club based in Järvenpää. He also plays for the club’s men’s first team, where he has taken on a small coaching role. Janne believes that much the same principles apply to work and sport: teamwork, working towards goals and continuous improvement. These are what make both meaningful to him.
“I particularly identify with Terawatt’s value of continuous learning. This applies to both work and sport: we can’t change the past, but we can influence the future. It’s important to learn from experience and put those lessons into practice in the future. Terawatt has a strong culture of coaching leadership, which I also strongly support because of my own coaching background. I believe this approach to leadership helps people succeed and supports their wellbeing.”

Trust is the key to great work enviroment
At Terawatt, Janne feels part of a workplace built on a sense of autonomy and trust in everyone’s expertise. From his very first days, he felt as though he had been part of the team for much longer.
“I can wholeheartedly recommend Terawatt as a place to work. The company has clear values and a working culture that encourages a positive, relaxed and inspiring team spirit. It’s also easy to put forward ideas for improvement, and it’s great to see them actually put into practice.”
